| The Geneva Initiative (or "Geneva Accords") was a draft agreement covering all the main points of contention between Israel and Palestine. It was a non-governmental initiative drafted by a group of Israelis and Palestinians including Yossi Beilin, a former Israeli minister, and Yasser Abed Rabbo, a former Palestinian Authority minister. It incorporated proposals from the Oslo Accords, George Bush's Road Map and the Arab Peace Initiative.
An expanded version of the plan was published in 2009.
Israel would retain some settlements along the 1967 Green Line. In return Palestine would gain an equivalent area from Israel; see the map.
Refugees would receive compensation, and would be encouraged to return to the new Palestinian state. |
